My addiction got worse with the invention of the DVR and 500 cable TV channels (or is it now 1000, I keep losing count, but does it really matter?). Luckily I married a sports addict, so we leave each other alone in the TV department.
And now there's more social media than ever before, times a bazillion. And blogs times a quadrillion.
And Goodreads. (Thankfully, I love books.) And Pinterest.
So what's a writer to do for goodness sake! Stop watching political news on MSNBC? OK, maybe that's a start.
Not go on Pinterest?! OK, maybe just go on once or twice a week, in the evenings, after dinner, forget taking a shower.
Let's face it, demands on our time in this modern, cyber, politically-charged world is increasing. We still only have 24 hours in a day! How much more can we take? Do we really need another social media life-sucker? (Thank you Google Plus!) Or another political cable channel (I'm talking to you Current TV.) And don't get me started on SmartPhones! (And since when are phones "smart"!)
I'm bringing this up today because I read Kate's post over at at http://www.Picklbum.com where she confessed that her family wears mismatched socks. And it got me thinking about making a confession of my own (the addicted to politics part in case you just missed it).
So I'm making a pledge. No, not to wear mismatched socks (sorry Kate). No, not to stop watching all my political shows (I'm addicted, remember). I'm pledging to stop making excuses not to write.
It's a struggle, maybe it always will be, but then, that just gives me more to write about!

I wrote this blog post for the Real Life Wednesday link up! Go and check it out! Link up if you have something to share with a great group of moms! Or just read some great blogs and stay off Pinterest for twenty minutes, and turn off the TV while you're at it!
